As commander of the 1st Platoon of the 1st company, Bitter moved from Lemberg via Proskurow to Winniza (Vinnitsa/Winnica) to prepare for Hitlers arrival at the FHQ in the Ukraine. The FHQ WEREWOLF was the most advanced of the FHQ, 10 KM north of Winniza on the river bug. Hitler arrived in July and used it as his base during the 1942 Summer offensive.
